One loop, starting on the hour. Finish early and the remainder of the hour is your rest; finish late and you are out.

Every runner starts together from the corral, every hour, for as long as they last.

there is none
No distance to complete and no cut-off to beat. The race ends when one runner is left, and that runner must complete a final solo loop to be declared the winner.

miss one, you are out
Anyone who fails to complete the loop in the hour, or does not start the next one, is eliminated. There is no partial credit.
the format is the difficulty.
A marathon asks you to cover a distance. A backyard ultra asks you to do the same modest loop again, one hour later, and then again, for as long as somebody else is still willing to.
Finish the loop in forty minutes and you have twenty minutes to eat, change and lie down. Finish in fifty-eight and you have two. Nobody is racing the clock; everybody is racing the last person who has not quit.

Once the lottery closes, the rappid team handpicks 150 athletes from everyone who applied. Every selected athlete is told by email.

pay within 48 hours
Selected athletes receive a personal registration code. The code is good for 48 hours; miss that window and it expires and the place is reassigned.

How does the Last Soul Ultra work?
The Last Soul Ultra follows the backyard ultra format. Every hour, all runners start together on a 6.7 km loop. Anyone who does not finish the loop in time and return to the starting corral before the next hour is eliminated.
